Objective:
Seattle Repertory Theatre wanted a fun way to familiarize people with its new artistic director, Jerry Manning, and to build enthusiasm for the upcoming theatre season with their “Go Jerry” campaign.
Solution:
We created an interactive, illustrated environment for Jerry to move about in, using an understated style in keeping with his personality. The flow of the piece is leisurely, allowing the visitor to explore at their own pace.
My Role:
With less from a month from start to finish, I generated storyboard concepts, designed basic layout, and developed the interactivity within Flash using Actionscript 3. Illustration and character animation was done by Andry Laurence of the Seattle Rep.
To help a nonprofit organization provide a series of energy improvement resources in a structured, intuitive way.
Solution:
Developed a grid system and modular series of symbols to help organize content and educate members about the steps they can take to reduce their energy consumption.
My Role:
Designed grid, layout, symbol system and other visual elements for the website. Designed and built an interactive, animated chart to educate members on the benefits and structure of the system.
To generate excitement and understanding around a new educational software product, DreamBox Learning K-2 Math.
Solution:
Conveyed the excitement of learning through custom photography of children aged 5-7. Images of children appear randomly on the home page to provide a fresh experience for site visitors. Created an open layout that could be adapted in several phases as the company rolled out its new products.
My Role:
Developed company’s identity by producing conceptual basis for site design. Designed layout and all site graphics, working with photographer Marc Carter for images shown on the home page.
Objective:
To increase sales conversions for this premium wireless device and service company.
Solution:
Update the site frequently in order to test which design decisions were most effective toward gaining members and increasing sales.
My Role:
Worked with designers, developers, usability engineers, and project managers to devise new solutions for frequent client requests. Designed page layouts, Flash prototypes, product animations, and performed basic site maintenance.
Objective:
Expedia wanted to create compelling reasons for people to take time off, and an easy way for them to book vacations through the website.
Solution:
The design team came up with a humorous storyline approach, rich in imagery, that encourages people to explore. The site also features the findings from various studies which have determined that you will be much better off when you “get away.”
My Role:
Responsible for primarily graphic production, and some design of infographics.
Objective:
To promote the apparel within Nordstrom’s teenage girls’ department. To create a destination for girls 13-18 to explore fashion, creativity, and fun. To keep the site constantly changing.
Solution:
Created a modular site built around the core BP brand, which could shift monthly to reflect new clothing.
My Role:
Evolved the visual feel of the original site to convey the themes of the month. Redesigned the site on a monthly basis to include new content. Streamlined the production process with templates that don’t look like templates. Designed and implemented games and freebies each month.
Objective:
To build excitement around mMode, AT&T’s suite of data offerings for mobile phones.
Solution:
Created an immersive interactive experience for web and store kiosks. Used humorous storylines and animated photography to highlight three key mMode features.
My Role:
Concepted storylines, designed movie layouts, and completed animation for all movies.
Objective:
To make Microsoft’s Encarta Reference Library an appealing upgrade for teenagers. To position Encarta as an indispensable reference tool that’s actually fun.
Solution:
Designed 5 mini stories that correspond with key benefits of the Encarta Reference Library.
Created an interactive demo that could run by itself on store kiosks.
My Role:
Worked with a writer to concept the demo. Designed and built demo from start to finish. Composed musical score.
